SEE IT: 18-year-old flees from police in wild high speed chase

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- A wild chase throughout Waukesha County ends with the fleeing suspect's car pinned against a median, and the teen driver in jail. Austin Resche already had a long adult criminal record leading up to Wednesday's car chase. Especially lengthy because Resch is just 18 years old.

Court records show Resch was recently out on bail on a drug charge when he got in trouble again.

Resch was spotted with a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing in Washington County -- the meet-up was in a Menomonee Falls park.

Police say two days prior, Resch was wanted for allegedly stealing jewelry from a Costco. That, along with open drug cases for the 18-year-old, may have played a part in this.

FOX6 News obtained dash cam video from Menomonee Falls police squads.

A criminal complaint says officers took off after Resch when he left the park with the girl in the passenger seat at a high rate of speed.

The complaint says at times Resch drove down the wrong lane of traffic, other cars had to swerve into the ditch.

Stop sticks punctured his tires but he didn't stop. With police squads in pursuit, police say he was headed for a crowded Menomonee Falls shopping mall.

That's when a Germantown officer pulled in front of him, Resch crashed into the squad and was forced to stop.

Now added to his growing list of charges -- bail jumping and attempting to flee an officer. And that's not all according to the prosecutor.

"Further additional charges will be added as multiple reports and videos were coming in at the time of his arrest. The fact that he's out on bail, recently released $5,000 cash bail on December 19th," said

Now Resch has to post $10,000 cash to get out of jail, and if he does during this court case -- Resch is being ordered to not drive a car at all.
