GREEN BAY (WITI) – A Green Bay man is now charged in what investigators have called the most disturbing child porn case Brown County has ever seen.

John Beauchamp

"It was very disturbing," Brown County Sheriff's Lt. Jim Valley.

62-year-old John Beauchamp is facing 20 counts of child porn possession.

Investigators say he had 7,446 child porn images. They say the images are primarily of children younger than three years old. We're told the pictures were stored on an online storage account. Investigators say this case began when someone at Microsoft alerted the "Center for Missing and Exploited Children."

"You can't just Google the images up. These images are specific to child pornography collectors or people who want to harm children and take pictures of it," Lt. Valley said.

According to a criminal complaint, Beauchamp told Sheriff’s deputies he refers to himself as “Baby Emily.”

Beauchamp told deputies he watches child porn in “his nursery,” which is a room decorated with dolls and baby clothes in his basement -- saying he sucks on a "nook" and drinks from a baby bottle, saying "it's just a fetish he has."

"I think it's very disturbing having these images and that computer within a room that contains real material of infants and babies," Lt. Valley said.

Investigators say Beauchamp told them he has lived at the home with his wife for 25 years -- saying in the basement for the past ten years.

Deputies say they are still investigating whether Beauchamp had any inappropriate physical contact with children.

"We need to look at each individual image and determine whether or not, whether we're able to identify that child or not," Lt. Valley said.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Vilas County say they could refer similar charges against Beauchamp, but they didn't elaborate.

His bond has been doubled to $100,000.

On one hand it’s extremely horrific that people behave this way and absolutely disgusting. The flip side is that he simply looked at pictures (presumably) and will do some hard time -and rightfully so. But those that kill their kids, or directly harm others/children, do far less time. They actually act on their inner demons and those that just have demented thoughts are punished more severly??? Why shouldn’t those that act be treated at least the same or more harsh? Someone kills a 2 month old baby is somehow understandable, and given probation or light sentence because we call it depression or frustration, and yet, the guy that views images, get life in prison??? Why doesn’t that guy get any mental illness compassion like the murderer?? And again, I think they should be both harshly punished!!

Poor guy. Obviously has a sick mind. He could have benefited from psychotherapy. Unfortunately, in too many states, therapists have to report any time a patient tells them that they have viewed child pornography.

The fear of being arrested and charged and sentenced and incarcerated keeps people sick so that they suffer throughout the rest of their lives. And they also harm more children by continuing to use the child pornography.
