On a bitterly cold night, three people taken to the hospital as fire breaks out near 27th & Lloyd

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Fire officials say three people were taken to the hospital following a fire that occurred near 27th and Lloyd on this bitterly cold Wednesday night, February 18th.

It happened at a single-family home where six people are living shortly before 8:00 p.m. This, as the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for all of southeast Wisconsin to be in effect until noon on Thursday, February 19th. Wind chills were forecast to dip to -20 to -30 Wednesday night.

We're told those taken to the hospital were suffering from respiratory issues likely related to the smoke caused by the fire.

No one was critically injured.

Fire officials say this fire looks to have started in a back bedroom. The official cause is still being investigated.

The American Red Cross was called out to the scene.
