Crashed in a ditch: Deputies arrest man suspected of driving drunk

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Deputies with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Joseph Ristow of Big Bend on Monday evening, February 23rd. He was suspected of driving drunk.

The deputies responded to a crash at an off-ramp on southbound I-894 at National Ave. around 7:30 p.m. The vehicle in question was in a ditch. When the deputies arrived on the scene, they found Ristow passed out behind the wheel with his foot on the gas pedal. They were forced to shatter a window in Ristow’s car to gain access to the vehicle and provide aid. Ristow had a pulse but was unconscious.

West Allis Fire Department and a West Allis Med unit arrived on scene and took Ristow to Froedtert Hospital for treatment and a legal blood draw.

Ristow was arrested for felony DUI-4th offense. He has prior convictions in March 2002,
