MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee County has filed a lawsuit seeking a judge’s approval to sell the downtown Transit Center for the “Couture” development.

The lawsuit involves a dispute with the group “Preserve Our Parks.”

That group argues the land was part of Lake Michigan in the late 1800s, and that it is reserved for public use. The group has threatened to sue Milwaukee County if the land is sold.

The lawsuit, once it is decided in Milwaukee County Circuit Court will likely be appealed by the losing party to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
