DODGE COUNTY (WITI) — Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say a Mukwonago man was injured in a hunting accident on Tuesday, February 24th.

It happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. in the Township of Leroy.

Sheriff’s officials say the 43-year-old Mukwonago man was shot in the face with a bird shot fired from a shotgun by a 58-year-old Richfield man.

Both men were hunting pheasants on private land when the accident occurred.

An investigation has revealed the Richfield man shot at a flying pheasant and struck the other hunter who was 40-to-50 yards away. The Mukwonago man was taken to the hospital by ambulance for injuries to his face. He is expected to be okay.

Sheriff’s officials say the hunters involved were wearing orange hats and vests.
