Woman, child abducted in Milwaukee found safe in Indianapolis, one in custody

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Terrifying moments for a Milwaukee woman and her 18-month-old daughter after they were allegedly abducted by the victim's boyfriend. After enduring a wild ride, police were able to find them in Indiana.

Thankfully the victim and her little girl are safe, and FOX6 News is told they should be making their way back to Milwaukee soon.

The victim's mother says her daughter and granddaughter were forcefully taken from a home in the 4100 block of N. 47th Street on March 5th and held captive for hours.

All Rowena Hoskins could do was pray for a safe return. She says Thursday her 22-year-old daughter Monique's boyfriend and father of their 18-month-old child came to her home riled up.

"He came straight in my room and told me he was going to kidnap my daughter and granddaughter," said Rowena.

Family members say he asked her to take him somewhere. Instead, when they got in the car he took over.

"He starts driving, he took her car on the expressway and he was driving real fast. She called me and was crying saying "momma I'm scared,' I said 'why, what's the matter?' She said 'he won't turn this car back around, he said he is trying to take me to Florida'," said Anfrene Hoskins, victim's brother.

Hoskins called police while the pair was held captive.

"He had a stack of money I don't know where he got it from, he doesn't have a job, he had a gun, he was crazy," said Anfrene.

"He was threatening that he was going to kill her and my grandbaby. I was just praying to God things would turn around," said Rowena..

Before the suspect took the victim's phone, she was able to use it and try to call for help.

"He sent her in the store and tried to sell food stamps. So she passed the phone to the clerk, the owner of the store called the Indiana Police," said Rowena.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police in Indianapolis located the victims in a hotel and took the suspect into custody. Family members are grateful for the woman's quick-thinking which helped bring the abduction to an end.

"I'm giving my sister a big hug and niece a big kiss. Thank God nothing happened to nothing of them and that's all that matters -- God was on their side," said Anfrene.

Hoskins says the couple has been together for about 7 years and claims the 22-year-old suspect has become increasingly violent.

She hopes he gets a lengthy punishment for putting the lives of her daughter and granddaughter in jeopardy.

MPD will present charges against the suspect to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
