Video: Roof collapses during huge St. Patrick's Day party in California

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — At least eight people were injured after a garage roof collapsed during an early St. Patrick's Day party at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

The city said in a statement that in the most serious injury, a person's thigh was impaled by a piece of debris early Saturday. At least seven others were treated for cuts and bruises. None of the injuries are life-threatening.

Police Capt. Chris Staley says three people have been arrested for misdemeanors. The San Luis Obispo Fire Department tweeted that the scene is under control.

The university says it is working with police, and it has opened its own investigation that could result in disciplinary measures.

Several thousand students, most in green, were at the party that was spread throughout the neighborhood.
