Greater Milwaukee Foundation reveals March’s “Gift to the Community”

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — FOX6 and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation are teaming up to bring you Gifts to the Community – unique experiences that highlight the remarkable resources the community has to offer – as we celebrate the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s 100 years of service to the Milwaukee area.

March’s Gift to the Community is free admission throughout the opening weekend ofThat’s Amore!, the spring show at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes), March 28th and 29th.  The Domes will be open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days.  NO reservations or tickets are required and all guests are welcome, regardless of county of residence.

Features:

  • Show Dome: The new That’s Amore! Exhibit will fill the air with the aroma of Mediterranean herbs and scented geraniums surrounding a rustic courtyard reminiscent of an Italian countryside
  • Arid Dome: Featuring one of the world’s finest collections of cacti, succulents, shrubs and arid-land bulbs native to the deserts of Africa, Madagascar, South America and North America
  • Tropical Dome: Featuring more than 1,200 species of tropical plants as well as some tropical birds in a microcosm of a rainforest ecosystem
  • Winter Farmers Market from 9am to 1pm on Saturday March 28th in the conservatory greenhouses
  • Very Fairy Princess Day on Sunday March 29th – featuring fairy and wizard makeovers; character appearances by princesses, fairies and wizards; make your own fairy garden; fairy dances; and treats.  Children wearing fairy wings or costumes may win a prize.
