Rolling Stones fans will get "Satisfaction" at the Marcus Amphitheater on June 23rd

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Rolling Stones are coming to Milwaukee to kick-off Summerfest 2015! They'll perform at the Marcus Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 23rd.

The Rolling Stones North American Tour will include 15 stops and Milwaukee is one of them!

"This is, without a doubt, the biggest show we`ve ever done. I`ve been doing this for 38 years, so this is the biggest show I`ve had a chance to be involved with at Summerfest," Summerfest VP of Entertainment Bob Babisch said.

Tickets and VIP packages for Milwaukee will go on sale Monday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m. local time.  For ticketing information please visit rollingstones.com.  Each Stones concert ticket purchase comes with a complimentary General Admission to Summerfest 2015, valid on any day of the festival during operating hours.

American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. local through Sunday, April 12th at 10:00 p.m. local for select markets.

The Milwaukee date is an unprecedented early kick-off to Summerfest, as The Rolling Stones will help open The World’s Largest Music Festival a night early on June 23rd, 2015 with an iconic concert performance in the Marcus Amphitheater.

As a bonus for fans, The Rolling Stones concert ticket holders to the Milwaukee date are invited to join in The Official Pre-Party presented by Fiduciary Management Inc., inside of the South Gate of Henry Maier Festival Park, featuring two stages of live entertainment with food and beverages available for purchase, starting at 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., before the 8:00 p.m. concert.

Summerfest officials are especially excited because all but two of The Rolling Stones 15 shows will be in stadiums, so Milwaukee's show will be an opportunity to see the band in a relatively intimate setting. Summerfest officials say discussions to bring The Rolling Stones to Milwaukee began in December.

"We kind of kept anyone from knowing about it for a while -- and then there was a couple of meetings in Los Angeles in January and you got the feeling it was real for us," Babisch said.

An initial series of billboards suggested the announcement would come earlier. While the official word didn't come until Monday, festival organizers say they were never worried.

"There were some loose ends on part of the tour, where that was I don`t know and where that was happening, but they just said 'let`s just wait a second. Let`s just get it done and make sure it`s all locked up perfectly' and it was," Babisch said.

Excitement over the announcement spread to Rushmore Records -- a Bay View record store.

"Now that the event is announced, people are coming in. We just sold a Stones record to someone who`s never seen them and is planning on going. It`s been the topic of conversation. I mean, the Badgers going to the Final Four of course, but the Stones, I mean, everyone`s talked about it. It`s a big event," Bill Swinger said.

The Rolling Stones Zip Code tour will be the first time the rock legends have played North American stadiums since 2005-2007’s A Bigger Bang Tour. The Rolling Stones last played Milwaukee in 2005 at the Bradley Center.

Summerfest 2015 will take place June 24 – 28 and June 30 – July 5 from noon until midnight and will be closed Monday, June 29.
