Sheriff's officials: 52-year-old man shot, wounded in Town of Salem

TOWN OF SALEM (WITI) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the Town of Salem.

Officials were called to a report of a shooting incident in the 22000 block of 121st Street in the Town of Salem. It happened on Monday night, March 30th around 9:30 p.m.

According to officials, the incident involved a 52-year-old Kenosha County man who reported he had been shot by one of two suspects. He suffered a single gunshot wound and was taken to St. Catherine's Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Officials say the victim reported that he had retrieved a gun from his residence after being shot, and it is possible that one of the suspects was also shot.

Two suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. Police say they wore masks at the time of the incident.

At this time, officials say this case appears to be an isolated incident -- and it is believed that the suspects are no longer in the area.

There does not appear to be any immediate threat to the community at this time.

As with any serious incident such as this, Sheriff David Beth encourages citizens to diligently report any suspicious activity or information which could assist the Kenosha County Sheriff’s detectives in this investigation.
