Student faces disciplinary action after showing up at Wauwatosa East H.S. with replica firearm

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Phil Ertl, the superintendent of the Wauwatosa School District says a student is facing disciplinary action and possible citations and/or charges after he brought a replica firearm to Wauwatosa East High School Wednesday, April 1st.

We're told the student brought a red rubber replica firearm to the school -- then taking a black and white photograph of himself with the replica firearm -- sharing it on Instagram.

Due to the black and white photo, it was not clear that this was in fact a replica and not a real weapon.

School authorities and Wauwatosa police worked together and tracked down the student. He now faces both disciplinary action at school, as well as whatever civil citations or charges police may issue.

Superintendent Ertl says he's confident Wauwatosa East High School will continue to be a safe place to attend school.
