"It's a special day!" Double delight for tailgating Brewers fans; a big Badgers game Monday night!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Baseball is BACK -- and fans filed into the parking lots surrounding Miller Park bright and early on Opening Day Monday, April 6th -- many of them immediately firing up the grill! Fans geared up for a long Monday -- many of them looking forward to a Badgers NCAA Tournament championship game Monday night.

"This is what we were looking forward to! We couldn`t wait to see (the Brewers) again in our hometown! I mean, how nice is that?!" Lynn Hopfensperger said.

Monday was a nicer than normal day for fans feeling the flavor of a Dairy State double delight! Many were set to take in the Brewers game with a tailgate and then later -- a Badgers NCAA Tournament championship matchup!

"Go Brewers -- and Badgers tonight!" David Belasco said at Miller Park Monday.

"I`ve got a closet full of jerseys and of course, I had to go through and find the red and the white one today you know? Because it`s a special day!" Jody Friese said.

Friese and some 50 or so of his closest friends found their annual Opening Day tailgate taking on a Final Four feel.

"The Badgers (game) is a little more important to me than Opening Day. Even though we`re throwing this fantastic tailgate, I`m looking more forward to the game tonight than the game today," Friese said.

But rather than calling it a conflict, most fans said they're hoping this is the year both the Badgers and the Brewers bring home trophies.

"We love the Badgers and we wish them the best of luck! Go Badgers Go!" Willie Coleman said.

Unfortunately, the Brewers fell to the Colorado Rockies in their opener, 10-0. Later, though it was a hard-fought battle, the Badgers fell to the Blue Devils 68-63.
