MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say three people are dead in connection with an incident that began as a fatal accident and turned into a double shooting.

It happened in the 4600 block of N. 48th Street on Sunday, April 12th just after 5:00 p.m. Police had much of Wahl Park blocked off as they worked the scene.

Police say an initial investigation has revealed a two-year-old child ran into the street and was struck by a vehicle.

The 41-year-old man who was driving remained at the scene.

Police say the driver and a 15-year-old boy were then shot. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police say he died during surgery.

No one is in custody.

A FOX6 News crew on scene reported many in the area overcome with emotion. Neighbors say the home police were focusing on on 48th Street was busy all day.

"I was shooting golf balls and I was watching the little child playing with his lawn mower -- like cutting the grass. My grandkids were telling me that I left just before all of this happened," a neighbor said.

Milwaukee Alderman Joe Davis says he was called out to the scene.

"As a city official and as someone who represents neighborhoods, these are things that we don't like to get a call for. These are the types of things that make neighborhoods very unstable, and good people who are in the neighborhood are very much impacted for the rest of their lives -- especially the families that have tried to do the right thing in such a tragic incident. I know that the people in that house may have been very, very upset about the incident -- the vehicular incident that occurred, but you don't solve these types of things with guns, and start shooting and taking other people's lives. Today is not a good day for the city of Milwaukee -- when an infant can lose his life, and then someone, a Good Samaritan tries to do the right thing and then all of a sudden a tragedy occurs," Alderman Davis said.

  • wow

Fancy. Whoever shot the 41 year old..and the 15 yr old will be caught and charged more than like premeditated..1st degree intentional homicide..they will be bought to justice. Anyone who hides this person is as quilty as they are.they the shooter will also be charged in the 15 year olds death…there is No Excuse for this type of out of control behavior..no defense..whatsoever!!!!

The news are reporting this story wrong. The 15 year old was not a passenger he is the 2 year old brother. He is not related to the driver. Sad to see 3 ppl gone for an accident. Praying for both families.

  • wow

No it is immoral behavior. The motorist. Is the innocent victim. The two year old was not attended too properly…and the criminal shooter murdered. An innocent man…he will be caught he is guilty and those who hide and cover for him are also quilty. And should also be criminally charged

I think this is such a sad story all the way around….. a tragic accident happened in which a life of a toddler (still practically a baby) was lost and although he was fatally wounded it was just that an accident…….there is no words to describe my emotions and feelings for what happened next. We lost three more lives afterward. The van driver who unlike many stayed at the scene to take responsibility and the toddler’s teen brother who was just an innocent bystander…..then we have the shooter who was probably some kin to the toddler and teen….. in which he accidentally shot the teen with a stray bullet.
Now even though noone may even care whats happens to this person (the shooter), I pretty sure he or she is headed to jail probably getting extensive time in addition to possibly dealing with some type of feelings for shooting the teen…….SMH….I beg for everyone to put the guns down this story would have ended with a sad ending of the toddler being hit which appears to have been a accident……. but not the family of these boys have losts two children and a relative/friend (the shooter)in addition the driver of the van was tried and convicted on the spot for an accident that probably could have been prevented with proper supervision. And now his family is left fatherless. My heart and prayers go out to all…may god give people the strength to move on and forgive

Black people are violent people. I’m black too. Stop blaming white folks. Black people murder every day. We need the death penalty for some of these people. This one example.

    • DaTruth

So do white people and every other race of color, but before blacks was killing, white folks was carrying out despicable acts of violence……and still do! Black people behave like this because we’ve been allowed to act in violent ways. You must didn’t see all of the racist comments on here! Black people is just focuses on to destroy the image. Alot of crime in white neighborhoods, don’t make it to the news. But its in police reports!

Criminals do come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Anymore though I feel as if these stories are on constant rotation inorder to divide us as a society. Let us all stop pointing fingers in complacency, and become the change we want to see. Mother Earth Father Sun

      • DaTruth

Criminals do come in all colors, but the things learned is taught to people. By subliminally being put into their conscious, to act out certain ways of negativity that the powers that be wants people to embrace within. The truth will set you free and if not, your a pawn in the manipulation. The powers that be happen to be a certain color and has the phatness of the earth. White and black people are the most mimicked people on this earth. We all follow something. So the violence was taught!

  • Mike

The driver was probably speeding and the dad witnessed the whole thing and did what he had to do.
