Long-time wrestling fan remembered at Waukesha event

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- A couple of years ago, FOX6 News shared a story about a local wrestling fan.

Shawn Weber was even tougher than the athletes competing in Frank DeFalco's Brew City Wrestling events. The Webz, as he was affectionately known, was honored at one of Frank's competitions in 2013. His favorite wrestler, John Ceena, had a saying Shawn lived by -- never give up. He never did -- even through a heart transplant. However, the young man with a wonderful, courageous heart and spirit passed away in November 2014.

On Saturday, April 11th, Frank DeFalco's Crew City Wrestlers performed again at the Elks Lodge in Waukesha. A "Night for Shawn" featured the wrestlers giving up their pay for the night. Plus, 100 percent of the proceeds for the show went to Shawn's family to help pay for medical costs -- and for his cemetery headstone.

The Webz' parents, Kim and Bill, were there. Shawn was there too, in spirit, as his chair was in the ring.

The show raised $2,300.
