Three people treated for minor injuries after vehicle starts on fire in apartment garage in Waukesha

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say three people had to be treated for minor issues following a fire in a garage that occurred in the 2100 block of MacArthur Road in Waukesha Tuesday morning, April 14th.

It happened shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Police say a vehicle caught fire in an apartment building's garage, in the lower level of the apartment building. The building was evacuated and the fire was quickly contained.

Three residents were treated and released at the scene for minor issues.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene as all 24 apartment units are unable to be occupied. Lunch was provided for 30 people, but the Red Cross said many may have been at work, unaware of the fire.

The Red Cross has a reception center in a nearby building and is working to determine how many people will need emergency housing. A shelter may be opened if it is needed.
