Family, friends grieve: Funerals held for two boys killed in crash that led to gunfire

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- One Milwaukee family deals with an emotional day; their tragedy  captured headlines for weeks. On Wednesday, April 22nd, family members and friends of the victims attended one funeral with three caskets.

Damani Terry and Rasheed Chiles

On Sunday evening, April 12th, two-year-old Damani Terry darted into the street and was struck by a van driven by Archie Brown Jr. As Brown rushed to the child, Terry's uncle, Ricky Chiles, shot brown. Another bullet struck Terry's 15-year-old brother, Rasheed Chiles. All three -- Brown, Terry and Chiles -- died.

Days later, as authorities were about to arrest Ricky Chiles in a Chicago motel, he killed himself.

That chain of events brings us to Wednesday. Family, friends, community supporters all shared in the grief at this funeral.

"Our children are dying and it's time for us to come together," said one person.

"To the family, I just want to tell ya'll stay strong. I love ya'll," said another.
