"You couldn't help but to love him:" Family and friends gather to mourn arson victims

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Friends and family come together to remember two people killed in a fire last week. Police say it was arson and are still looking for the person responsible. Loved ones remembered lives lost, taken unexpectedly.

In the shadows of a burnt out home, prayers for peace echo through a neighborhood.

Less than a week ago, 38th and Wright was the spot of a violent house fire. Two people died inside the home, police say it was arson.

Their deaths are being investigated as homicides.

"It's tough. I'm not going to lie and say that it's easy," said Dionndria Addison, Dontray Jones' sister.

Mourners remember Michea Sampson and Dontray Jones. Sampson was from Oklahoma in town for a funeral. Jones lived in Milwaukee.

"My brother wasn't the target. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time," said Addison.

"The person who did do this will be found eventually and they will have to pay for it," said Jenifer Logan, friend.

The 28-year-old student is being remembered as a father and brother, someone with a full life ahead of him.

"Dontray has a lot of love. A lot of people loved this guy," said Logan.

"You couldn't help but to love him," said Addison.

Mourners lean on one another, asking the city to wake up and make a change so that this pain does not persist.

"I just wish this city would get it together so that no other family would have to feel like this," said Addison.

No arrests have been made in this case.
