State Fair rounds out Main Stage lineup with '80s hair bands and Kenny Rogers

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- Wisconsin State Fair officials are excited to announce the final two shows at the Main Stage presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino – the aptly named HAIR at the FAIR show, and classic country superstar Kenny Rogers. The 2015 Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, opens Thursday, Aug. 6 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 16 at Wisconsin State Fair Park.

Concertgoers are in for a ‘80s rock revival when HAIR at the FAIR takes the stage on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. Featuring heavy metal, head-banging artists Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, Kix and Lynch Mob, these rebels will have fans singing at the top of their lungs. Snider’s career took off when Twister Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock,” topped the charts in the mid-‘80s, and he hasn’t slowed down since. Aside from several TV stints, Snider still hosts the syndicated “House of Hair” show, which can be heard on rock radio stations across the country, including here in Milwaukee. The night will kick off with other glam-metal favorites like Ford’s “Close My Eyes Forever,” Kix’s smash “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” and Lynch Mob’s “River of Love.” Tickets for this show will be $25 and $35 and all seating is reserved.

Classic country fans are in for a treat as Kenny Rogers brings the fair to a close Sunday, Aug. 16. Rogers has a long history of legendary performances at the Wisconsin State Fair, dating back to 1972. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, he is one of the most successful recording artists of all time. Timeless hits like “The Gambler,” “Coward of the County” and his duet with Dolly Parton, “Islands in the Stream,” are iconic in the world of country music. Rogers has a long list of accolades, beginning with his first Grammy Award in 1977 for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and culminating with his 2013 induction to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Tickets for the 6 p.m. show will be $25 and $35 and all seating is reserved.

Tickets for these shows will go on sale Friday, May 8 at 9 a.m. at WiStateFair.com and the Fair Ticket Office. Tickets can be purchased online with print-at-home or mail-order options. Service fees apply to all online orders. The Ticket Office is located at 7722 W.
