MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Drug charges have been dropped against 19-year-old Kwesen Sanders -- the man who was the intended target in a shooting that instead led to the death of 13-month-old Bill Thao.

Kwesen Sanders

It is unclear why two felony counts of manufacturing/delivering heroin filed against Sanders have been dismissed.

He remains in jail -- facing charges in other cases.

He has three criminal cases filed against him in 2014. In June, a misdemeanor charge of receiving or concealing stolen property was filed. He'll be in court on May 27th in that case.

On November 15th, a felony charge of possession of narcotic drugs was filed against him. He's set to stand trial in that case in May.

On November 25th, a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property was filed against him. He'll be in court on May 27th.

Darmequaye Cohill was changed in connection with the shooting that killed Thao.

Documents show Cohill, who was allegedly trying to shoot Sanders for stealing his drug customers shot up the wrong house. Instead of shooting into Sanders’ residence, Cohill is accused of shooting into the identical duplex next door.
