Have a garden? Here are some tips for planting asparagus, leeks and cole crops

(WITI) -- There's nothing like asparagus spears, straight from the garden. Learn which ones to harvest and which to leave to make food for the plant all summer.

Leeks start out so wimpy -- like little strings with roots. Planted in a trench that is slowly filled and even mounded up, they will grow to be an inch in diameter and tender where the stems have been covered by soil.

The so-called "cole" crops can be transplanted to the garden now. This includes plants of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage plus many more that may.
