Garage fire in Racine spreads to two neighboring garages, damages power lines

RACINE (WITI) — Firefighters in Racine on Monday, May 18th were on the scene of a garage fire that spread to two neighboring garages and power lines.

It happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Thurston Avenue.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

The tenant wasn’t hurt.

We Energies was called in to work on repairing damage to power lines above the garage that caught fire.

Damage estimates are $10,000 for the garage, and $2,500 for the neighboring garages.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
