10% reduction in staff: Two-year colleges in UW System to cut administrators ahead of proposed budget cuts

MADISON (WITI) -- Two-year colleges in the University of Wisconsin System are bracing for a major shakeup in their management structure.

The two-year campuses like UW-Waukesha will cut administrators when it meets a planned 10% reduction in staff.

The cuts come ahead of a proposed $300 million budget cut proposed by Governor Scott Walker.

The number of deans at the two-year campuses would be cut from 13 to four, and the campuses would see an overall reduction of 88 jobs.

It is expected faculty members will then take on more administrative duties, which could cut into time serving students.
