Milwaukee police arrest convicted felon for firing gunshots; discover 9 grams of heroin

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police arrested a convicted felon just minutes after he fired shots into the air on Milwaukee's north side.

The incident took place on Saturday, May 23rd just before 10 p.m. in the 3900 block of N. 19th Place in Milwaukee.

Police say they received a call for four shots fired. Upon arrival, officers saw a suspect run away from the scene and then throw a gun to the ground.

The 56-year-old Milwaukee man was quickly arrested.

Officers found 9 grams of heroin in the suspect's pants and four fired casings near where the gun was fired.

The suspect is a convicted felon and has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1977.

Charges of felon in possession of a firearm, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver will be presented by Milwaukee Police Department to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
