Man severely injured following crash near 27th & Melvina; driver arrested

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a serious crash that occurred late Thursday night, June 18th on the city's northwest side.

It  happened near 27th and Melvina around 11:30 p.m.

Police say a 26-year-old man was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on 27th when he struck another car containing a male in his 30’s and a 32- year-old woman, who appeared to be making a U-turn to go south on 27th St.

The 26-year-old driver then attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by Milwaukee police. He was not injured and was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after he failed initial field sobriety tests on scene.

The 32-year-old female passenger of the the vehicle that was struck was slightly injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, the male in his 30’s, who was driving,  was severely injured and is currently being treated at a local hospital.

All those involved in this accident are from Milwaukee.
