A We Energies spokeswoman tells FOX6 News the peak of power outages Monday occurred around 1:00 p.m., when 25,000 We Energies customers were without service.

As of about 4:50 p.m., power had been restored to 20,000 customers. 12,000 were without power.

Some of the areas with larger outages include Franklin and New Berlin, as well as some of the southern Milwaukee County suburbs like Cudahy and South Milwaukee.

Lightning  and tree limbs landing on utility lines are the main culprits of the outages.

Multiple We Energies crews are out in the area and working on the restoration of electric power.  The hope is that by sometime Monday evening service will be restored to everyone.

The only thing that could delay that is if the next round of storms cause further troubles with more lines brought down.
