Police in Nebraska looking for 12-year-old boy charged with first-degree murder

OMAHA, Nebraska -- Prosecutors are searching for a 12-year-old boy who has been charged with first-degree murder.

USA Today is reporting police are asking the public for help in locating Jarrell Milton.

His brother, 17-year-old Jamar Milton and another teenager were arrested on Monday, July 6th.

The three are accused of shooting two men in a park on June 29th. One of the men died, USA Today reports.

Prosecutors say 12-year-old Jarrell Milton has a juvenile court record. Police have distributed a prior mugshot of the boy in an effort to locate him.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine told USA Today prosecutors are working to decide whether Jarrell Milton should be prosecuted as an adult or a child.

As for the June 29th shooting, Charles Fisher, who survived the incident, told the Omaha World-Herald he and his friend were driving through a park and slowed when three people started walking toward them, trying to get their attention. Fisher said the young men who approached the car he was driving appeared to be no older than 16 or 17. When the teens got within about four feet of the car, Fisher said, he saw that one of them had a gun. Fisher then drove off.

"They fired and the bullet hit me in the shoulder," Fisher said.
