49-year-old St. Charles, Illinois man pronounced dead after he was pulled from Delavan Lake

TOWN OF DELAVAN -- Town of Delavan police say a 49-year-old St. Charles, Illinois man was pronounced dead after officers were called out to a report of a possible drowning on Delavan Lake.

It happened around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 2nd.

Police say the victim had jumped into the water without a floatation device on in order to retrieve some fishing equipment.

After a few minutes, the victim began showing signs of distress, and the victim's brother-in-law jumped into the water to assist him.

The victim's brother-in-law became fatigued quickly, and a nearby boat pulled both the victim and his brother-in-law into their boat.

Officers and a Walworth County Sheriff's deputy arrived a short time later and found the victim wasn't breathing.

CPR was initiated, and the victim was brought to shore, where rescue was waiting and life-saving efforts continued.

After attempting to revive the man for an extended period of time, the man was pronounced dead.

His name hasn't been released so that family can be notified.
