Car struck by train at Fond du Lac crossing, one man hurt

FOND DU LAC -- The City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a reported vehicle vs. train accident early Monday morning, August 17th.

It happened shortly before 3:00 a.m. at the Scott Street crossing.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a one vehicle crash and one patient in the vehicle.  Crews extricated the patient from the vehicle and treated him for injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage.

Flight for Life was called to the scene and landed on Highway 45 just north of the accident.

FDLFR paramedics transferred care over to Flight for Life  and the patient was transported to a local trauma center.

The City of Fond du Lac police are conducting the crash investigation. Canadian National Railway personnel were also on scene.

No personnel on the train were injured.
