Three teens arrested after barking dog alerts Mount Pleasant homeowner to home invasion

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police say three people have been arrested following a home invasion that occurred on Wednesday, August 26th.

It happened just after 9:00 a.m. in the 5700 block of Heather Way.

Police say this home invasion was interrupted when a male resident was alerted to the suspects in the home by a barking dog. That resident called 911 and chased the suspects from the home.

While en route to the scene, police learned two suspects were seen running from the home to the south, and then east on Freedy Avenue. They were then seen leaving the area in a dark-colored SUV-type vehicle.

A short time later, a suspicious vehicle was seen in the area.

That vehicle was stopped by police and three suspects were taken into custody.

The suspect vehicle was seized as evidence.

Upon obtaining a search warrant and searching the vehicle, the property stolen in the burglary was recovered inside the vehicle. The property included money and electronic equipment belonging to the residents.

An investigation revealed that the suspects had entered the residence via an unlocked door without consent while the owners were inside the home.

The suspects then entered a bedroom and stole electronic equipment and an undetermined amount of money.

Those arrested in this case are: a 17-year-old boy, and two 18-year-old men.
