Game of the Week: Catholic Central takes W over Lake Country Lutheran: "Big win for our program"

HARTLAND -- The feature game for the FOX6 "High School Blitz" Friday, August 28th as voted on by YOU, the fans took place at Lake Country Lutheran High School, and featured Lake Country vs. Burlington Catholic Central High School.

It was the first Friday night HOME game for Lake Country Lutheran under the Friday night lights.

After the Burlington Central Hilltoppers defense stopped the Lake Country Lightning, its offense took over, and their first play from scrimmage was a big one.

Ben Heiligenthal went for 61 yards to the Lake Country 30.

The very next play was another big one -- a 30-yard touchdown score for the Hilltoppers.

After that, the Lightning's defense was as steady as the falling rain for the rest of the half.

The score was 7-0 at the half, with the Hilltoppers leading.

Despite the rain, Lake Country scored in the second half, leaving the game tied 7-7.

However, there was a quick answer by the Hilltoppers. The score was 14-7 after the first play of the fourth quarter.

Then, it was Heiligenthal again for the Hilltoppers. He went 64 yards for a touchdown -- and it was 21-7. That's how this one would end.

"It's a great rivalry between the two schools. A big win for our program, and our kids, the seniors have been -- they wanted this win pretty badly, and I think they did a great job coming out and getting it done," Tom Aldrich, Burlington Central High School head coach said.

"Great team we won against. I wish there would have been a different outcome, but we're still real excited," Greg Brazgel, Lake Country Lutheran High School head coach said.
