DETROIT, Michigan — A dad, who was about to give a victim impact statement in the sentencing of the two people accused in his three-year-old daughter’s death, punched one of the defendants during a court hearing.

According to Detroit Free Press, the father, Dwayne Smith, punched Clifford Thomas in the head. They were quickly separated.

The child’s mother, Jasmine Gordon, who was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the toddler’s death, began crying and yelling “Jesus!” after the punch was thrown.

The father will not face charges for the incident.

Jamila Smith, 3, died of blunt force injuries and her death was ruled a homicide.

Both Clifford Thomas and Jasmine Gordon were sentenced to serve time behind bars.

I’m proud of the father for doing this. He should have killed that man in the courtroom and got away with it. Either way, it shows that he loved his daughter and I would have done the same thing if anything like that would happen to my kids.

People who commit crimes against children deserve life… I can feel this fathers pain and I know he’s going to deal with this for a lifetime!

I agree, too bad this father didn’t kill the son of a b!#/h, he greatly and deeply loved his baby. We would gladly give our lives for our children. I feel his pain and frustration with the shi##y ‘justice’ system. I believe if you kill or harm a child then you should automatically get the death penalty. Our kids are our future, if you take their lives away, we take yours. That’s how it should be, period.

Some people would have been forgiving and the guilty people would have only had prison to deal with. Not everyone is so forgiving and you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. Ole boy got some of what’s coming to him in court.
