7-0 vote: Port Washington Common Council approves 'Blues Factory' development

PORT WASHINGTON -- Port Washington's Common Council has approved a major project in downtown Port Washington.

The council voted 7-0 to approve plans for the $4.75 million Blues Factory development on the downtown harbor.

It also endorsed the sale of a city-owned parking lot for the project, as well as negotiations to determine the land's price, and potentially city financial support.

The Blues Factory is a blues-themed restaurant, event space and history center.

The opening would be followed in August 2017 by an outdoor music festival in Port Washington to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Paramount Records.
