Reports: Wide receiver James Jones set to sign with Green Bay Packers after release by Giants

GREEN BAY -- Ian Rapoport said on Twitter Sunday, September 5th wide receiver James Jones is signing with the Green Bay Packers.

The New York Giants cut Jones this weekend, to reach the 53-man roster limit.

FOX6's Tom Pipines says the Packers will announce the signing of Jones on Monday, September 7th, according to multiple reports.

James Jones left the Packers in March of 2014 to sign a three-year, $10 million contract with the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders cut Jones this offseason.

Jones was a third-round pick by the Packers in 2007, and spent the first seven years of his career in Green Bay.

ESPN.com reports the Packers have had their eye on Jones since they lost wide receiver Jordy Nelson to a season-ending knee injury on August 23rd.
