It's official: Packers announce signing of WR James Jones, who will wear #89

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers on Monday, September 7th announced the signing of wide receiver James Jones.

Additionally, wide receiver Myles White has been released by the team, and nine players have been signed to the practice squad. They are:


    As for James Jones, the Packers say he'll wear #89 (his old number) for the Packers, and Richard Rodgers will now wear #82.

    Jones (6-foot-1, 208 pounds) is entering his ninth season in the NFL. He was originally selected by the Packers in the third round (78th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft and played his first seven seasons with Green Bay.

    Jones spent the 2014 season with the Oakland Raiders and the 2015 preseason with the New York Giants.

    For his career, Jones has registered 383 receptions for 4,971 yards (13.0 avg.) and 43 touchdowns while starting 57 of 120 games played. Last season, he set a career high with 73 receptions.



    The Packers take on the Chicago Bears in their first game of the regular season this Sunday, September 13th.
