Convicted felon arrested for burglary with help from alert citizen; second suspect sought

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say an alert citizen helped them arrest a convicted felon for a burglary on the city's west side.

Officers responded to the area near 60th and North Avenue around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10th after a citizen called 911 to report two people were trying to break into a business in the area.

When officers arrived, they saw a suspect walking away from the scene.

The suspect, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody.

Officers found two gloves, a plastic bag and a large PlexiGlass sheet on the ground.

Near the door of the business, the officers located a bolt cutter that was being used to break into the building.

The suspect is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2006 and is currently on bail for a burglary earlier this year.

MPD is still seeking a second suspect that was involved in the crime.

Charges will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
