Starving Artists' Show at Mount Mary University: Money raised benefits "needy & deserving students"

BROWN DEER -- A gentle spray and a shake of a can is all Steve Baughman needs to create incredible works of art.

Baughman first learned about spray paint art from street artists while on vacation in Mexico.

"I`m going 'really? Wow!' I`ve just never seen that style of painting before," said Baughman.

Being an experienced artist, it didn't take Baughman long to master his new-found craft.

"Let`s start stepping it up a little bit. Let`s start putting a little more detail into it," said Baughman.

Baughman is one of 220 artists featured in the 46th Annual Starving Artists' Show at Mount Mary University, with admission benefiting a worthy cause.

"The money that is made by the Alumni Association goes towards scholarships for needy and deserving students -- very talented students that may someday be in the show themselves," said Mount Mary University Alumni Association President Mic Pietrykowski.

This is Baughman's fifth year in the show.

He's using his art to inspire people to try something new, because you might discover it's something you love.

The Starving Artists' Show will be held on the west end of Mount Mary University's campus on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Admission is $10.

All of the works of art in the show will be sold for $100 or less.
