Man arrested for operating while intoxicated following crash, car fire in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN — The New Berlin Police Department responded to a two-car accident at Sunnyslope Road and Nicolet Drive Wednesday night, September 16th.

According to police, a 51-year-old man was turning left from Nicolet Drive onto southbound Sunnyslope Road when he collided head-on with a northbound vehicle on Sunnyslope Road. That vehicle was being driven by a 17-year-old boy.

The 17 year-old’s vehicle went into the ditch and started on fire. The 17- year-old sustained non-life threatening injuries to his head and was transported to Froedtert Hospital.

The 51-year-old man was not wearing his seat-belt and was thrown to the rear of his vehicle on impact and needed to be extricated by the New Berlin Fire Dept. He suffered minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

Police say the 51-year-old man was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated causing injury.
