MFD called out to fire at home near 6th and Keefe; blaze contained to home's attic

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee firefighters on Wednesday, September 23rd were called out to a fire at a home near 6th and Keefe.

MFD officials say the fire was called in shortly before 5:00 p.m.

No one was injured -- but two people who live in the home were displaced. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Fire officials say neighbors living near the home were waiting for the home's owners to come home when they heard smoke detectors going off -- and shortly thereafter, a window broke, and smoke started coming out of it.

The neighbors then called 911.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It was contained to the attic of the home.

A damage estimate hasn't been released.
