Funeral service Saturday for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Patrick Crooks

GREEN BAY — Funeral arrangements have been made for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Patrick Crooks, who died Monday in his chambers at the state Capitol. He was 77.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew Parish in Allouez on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home in Green Bay from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Crooks was a Brown County judge from 1977 to 1996 when he was elected to the Supreme Court. He announced last week that he would not be running for a third term on the bench.

Crooks was a stoic and neutral figure on a bitterly divided high court. Fellow justices recall him as a thoughtful decision-maker.
