"Really a blessing:" Three Brown Deer brothers who love basketball surprised with their very own hoop

BROWN DEER -- A Brown Deer woman saw a need and decided to take action. She has now scored some big points with some kids in her neighborhood!

Ellen Schimenz

"Every day when I'm driving home, I go by our neighborhood here, and there are three boys -- and they all have a basketball, but there's no hoop," Ellen Schimenz said.

Schimenz is an assistant principal at Brown Deer Elementary School.

Shelli Mueller

She put an email out to her staff, and a high school teacher created a Facebook post. That teacher got an immediate response -- from Shelli Mueller, who chose to donate a hoop for the kids.

"It was in the garage for two years. I bought it for the kids, and the landlord wouldn't let me put it up," Mueller said.

Mueller heard about the need for a hoop through the Facebook group "Shorewood Moms."

Mueller and Schimenz were on hand on Tuesday evening, September 22nd as the basketball hoop was installed at the kids' home.
