Two hurt following single-vehicle crash in Town of Yorkville, alcohol appears to be factor

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call of an accident that occurred at the intersection of STH 11 and 67th Drive in the Town of Yorkville in Racine County Wednesday night, September 23rd.

Racine County Deputies responded and found that this was a single-car accident and there were two occupants in the car.  Officials say the car was traveling southbound on 67th Drive when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of STH 11.  The car then crashed into a ditch, which caused severe front end damage.

Deputies found a 41-year-old female driver from Antioch, IL lying across the front seat, not wearing her seatbelt.  The female driver had facial injuries and was in and out of consciousness.  The windshield was smashed on the driver’s side.

Deputies found that there was a 9-year-old boy in the rear passenger seat in a car seat with his seatbelt on.  The boy was conscious and his injuries were found to be bruising on his chest and hips which are believed to be from the seatbelt.  Both occupants were transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine by the Union Grove / Yorkville Fire and Rescue Department.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor and the accident remains under investigation.
