"Forever remembered:" Trevor Casper awarded Wisconsin State Patrol's highest honors
MIDDLETON -- Gov. Scott Walker and Wisconsin State Patrol leaders have awarded a fallen trooper with the patrol's two highest honors.

On Monday, September 28th, the State Patrol celebrated several troopers who showed bravery in the line of duty -- including 21-year-old Trevor Casper. Casper was killed on March 24, 2015 in a shootout with a bank robber. It was his first solo patrol.
Trooper Clarissa Justmann was there.
"It's very hard to remember that day and those thoughts and feelings, especially seeing Trevor get killed," said Justmann.

Casper's family accepted the Medal of Valor and Purple Heart. The young trooper, full of promise, received the State Patrol's two highest honors posthumously.
Justmann and two others received the Medal of Valor for evaluating Casper once he had been shot.
"There's been a bond created through this tragic time." said Justmann. "And I hope that over time, that bond continues are we are able to support each other."
"Trevor will be forever remembered not only by this agency, but by this state. And we just thank you for sharing him with the State of Wisconsin," said Gov. Scott Walker.
Trooper Casper's family declined to talk about Monday's honor.
