MADISON— Republican legislators say they’ve finalized the details of a bill that would re-structure the nonpartisan board that oversees Wisconsin elections and ethics laws.

Spokeswomen for Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said party leaders met Wednesday morning, September 30th, and finished writing the legislation. They expect to released it next week.

Vos and Fitzgerald’s spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to emails asking what the bill does. An email sent to the office of the bill’s chief architect, Rep. Dean Knudson, also wasn’t immediately returned.

Vos has said he wants to split the board into two boards. One would handle elections. The other would handle ethics violations. Both boards would be made up of partisan appointees.
