Police: Squad car involved in crash with another vehicle near S. 13th and Oklahoma

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say a squad car was involved in an accident that occurred near S. 13th Street and Oklahoma Avenue on Wednesday evening, September 30th.

The call for this incident came in around 6:00 p.m.

Police say this was a crash involving two vehicles, including the squad car. We're told the squad was headed eastbound on Oklahoma Avenue, and the other vehicle was headed northbound on 13th Street.

The officer had activated his squad’s lights and sirens, and was proceeding through the intersection with the stoplight showing a red light.

The officer thought the driver of the other car saw him, but the driver didn’t, and the driver of the other vehicle struck the squad car.

The officer involved in this crash was taken to the hospital -- but it is believed that was done for precautionary reasons. He is a man in his mid-30s.

The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.

Both vehicles involved in this crash were able to be driven away from the scene.
