MADISON – First Lady Tonette Walker and Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson took part in a Business Summit Thursday, October 1st in Burlington.
There, Tonette Walker and Reggie Newson recognized local businesses that recruit, hire and retain job seekers with disabilities.
Governor Walker proclaimed the month of October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Wisconsin to highlight businesses that
provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities and encourage other businesses to provide opportunities for this skilled, dedicated and capable workforce.
As the state’s talent development agency, the Department of Workforce Development connects employers with a robust pool of skilled workers; assists job seekers with disabilities in achieving their employment outcomes; and oversees the state’s Unemployment Insurance, Equal Rights and Worker’s Compensation programs.
