Plymouth dairy plant to be shut down, 300 employees notified of closure

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) announced on Friday, October 2nd that it plans to close its Plymouth manufacturing plant in January 2016.

A news release from DFA says officials met with the plant’s 300 employees early Friday and cited the facility’s dated infrastructure and technology as the reason for the closure.

DFA says it is committed to finding ways to assist employees, many of whom have worked at the plant for decades. That includes setting up a job fair and helping workers identify local employment opportunities.

The DFA manufacturing facility in Plymouth has been in operation since 1954. Borden Cheese as well as private-label cheese products have been made there.
