4-0! Packers remain undefeated after 17-3 win over 49ers at Levi's Stadium

SANTA CLARA, California -- The Green Bay Packers are 4-0 after a 17-3 WIN vs. the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, October 4th.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3 of the NFL season after completing 24 of 35 passes for 333 yards with five touchdowns for a 138.5 passer rating in the 38-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field. It was his fourth career five-TD game, setting a franchise record he previously held jointly with Brett Favre.

The Packers and 49ers kicked off at 3:25 p.m. at Levi's Stadium.

The 49ers won the coin toss, and deferred. The Packers elected to take the ball as play began.

After a touchback, the Packers got to work on the 20 yard line.

The Packers first play of the game was unsuccessful -- as the ball glanced off wide receiver James Jones' hands.

The Packers were in the red zone early in this game after a completion of 19 to wide receiver Randall Cobb.

James Starks then rushed for a first down at the 49ers 47 yard line.

The first Packers touchdown of the game came with an Aaron Rodgers nine-yard pass to tight end Richard Rodgers. With Mason Crosby's extra point, the score was Packers 7, 49ers 0.

This, after Aaron Rodgers threw two incompletions to start this game. He went six for six after that -- for 63 yards on the TD drive.

A tackle of 49ers running back Reggie Bush by Packers cornerback Micah Hyde led the 49ers to punt -- and the Packers then got back to work at their own 15 yard line. This, after the 49ers opened with a Colin Kaepernick scramble for 12 yards.

The Packers stalled short of mid-field, and Tim Masthay's punt pinned the 49ers on their own 10 yard line -- but an illegal formation penalty wiped out the good punt, and Masthay would then try again.

The Packers defense allowed one first down and then a punt, which went out of bounds on the Green Bay 45 yard line.

The score was Packers 7, 49ers 0 as the first quarter came to an end.

And then came another sack of Kaepernick -- this time by Packers linebacker Jayrone Elliott.

After the teams exchanged three-and-outs, the 49ers got on the board with a 12-play, 57-yard drive for a field goal.

With a 33-yard field goal by 49ers kicker Phil Dawson, the score was Packers 7, 49ers 3 with 4:25 left in the first half.

An Aaron Rodgers pass to wide receiver James Jones and a run by Jones netted 36 yards for the Pack -- getting the green and gold to mid-field.

At the two-minute warning, Packers running back Eddie Lacy was stuffed by the 49ers defense on third and one. The Packers would then face fourth and one from the 49ers 41 yard line.

The Packers opted to go for it, and Lacy was able to convert for a first down.

Aaron Rodgers launched a pass down into the end zone to James Jones -- but that pass was incomplete.

A pass from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb near the first-down marker was ruled just short -- and set up another fourth and one for the Packers on the San Francisco 23 yard line.

The Packers opted to go for it again -- and the 49ers took their first timeout of this game.

QB Aaron Rodgers handed off the ball to Eddie Lacy -- and in the next play, launched a pass down field to Randall Cobb -- which was incomplete.

At third down and 10, Aaron Rodgers was sacked by 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks -- and the Packers called a timeout with two seconds left in the first half.

Then, Packers kicker Mason Crosby took to the field to try for a field goal. That 44-yard field goal attempt was unsuccessful -- and was the final play of the first half.

At the half, the score was Packers 7, San Francisco 49ers 3.

The third quarter began with a touchback, and the 49ers on the 20 yard line.

The Packers defense was able to hold the 49ers, and they were forced to punt. Packers cornerback Micah Hyde returned the punt by the Green Bay 39 yard line -- and it was back to work for the Packers offense.

The 49ers were forced to call a timeout early in the third quarter to avoid getting caught with 12 men on defense.

It was first and goal for the Packers with a catch downfield by wide receiver James Jones -- at the eight yard line.

Aaron Rodgers then tried to run the ball into the end zone -- scrambling for 17 yards -- and it was third and goal for the Packers on the one yard line.

Packers fullback John Kuhn was able to get the ball into the end zone for the Packers. With Mason Crosby's extra point, the score was Packers 14, 49ers 3.

With a sack by Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, the 49ers were forced to punt the ball. The punt ended up rolling out of bounds in Niners territory, and the Packers offense got set to go back to work with a good field position.

Packers officials said safety Sean Richardson left the game with cramps late in the third quarter.

With under three minutes left to play in the third quarter, Packers running back Eddie Lacy got the ball into the red zone for the Packers.

It was fourth down for the Packers after Aaron Rodgers launched a pass to Randall Cobb, but that pass was incomplete -- slipping out of Cobb's hands -- and the drive stalled at the 13 yard line.

Packers kicker Mason Crosby completed a 31-yard field goal -- bringing the score to Packers 17, 49ers 3.

As play began in the fourth quarter, Packers linebacker Nick Perry recorded his second sack of the game -- taking down 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick's scramble on third down came up short, and the Packers offense was set to get back to work from their own 23 yard line.

It was fourth down for the Packers after Aaron Rodgers was brought down by Ahmad Brooks.

Mason Crosby then punted for the Packers -- and the 49ers were set to take over at their own 33 yard line.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was sacked during this drive -- with Julius Peppers and Mike Neal teaming up to take him down.

Shortly thereafter -- an INTERCEPTION! Packers cornerback Sam Shields caught a pass intended for 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

The Packers were forced to punt again after Aaron Rodgers was sacked -- brought down on third down.

It was first and 10 for the 49ers after a catch by Torrey Smith.

Later during this drive, Kaepernick launched a pass to Smith, who was in the end zone -- but the pass was incomplete, and it was fourth down for the Niners.

Kaepernick then went down -- sacked by Packers' Mike Neal -- and the Packers would then take over.

The Packers defense had six sacks at this point in the game -- vs. seven sacks against the Chiefs last week.

At the two-minute warning, the Packers led the 49ers 17-3, amid "Go Pack Go" cheers that filled Levi's Stadium.

The Packers improve their record to 4-0 with the 17-3 win over the 49ers.

The Packers take on the St. Louis Rams at Lambeau Field next Sunday, October 11th, Kickoff is set for noon.
