20-year-old man struck and killed by train near Highway 49, Windhover Road in Lomira

TOWN OF LOMIRA -- Dodge County Sheriff's officials say a 20-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a train in the Township of Lomira on Wednesday night, October 7th.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. on the railroad tracks near State Highway 49 and Windhover Road.

A preliminary investigation has revealed the man was on the tracks when he was struck by the train, which was headed south.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.

The name of the victim hasn't been released.

The Dodge County Medical Examiner's Office and the Canadian National Railroad police are assisting with this investigation.

Earlier Wednesday night, crews were on the scene of a separate fatal incident involving a train and pedestrian -- this one, in Kenosha.

A 36-year-old man was struck and killed on the train tracks east of Sheridan Road, and east of Simmons Field in Kenosha -- near the area of 7th Avenue between 78th and 79th Street.

The train involved in the accident is a Metra train, and the incident occurred on Union Pacific tracks.

The victim is a 36-year-old man.
