MOUNT PLEASANT — The Racine County Medical Examiner’s Office says a man who was in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 20 in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, September 29th has died.
74-year-old Otto Theuer passed away Wednesday, October 7th at Froedtert Trauma Center/Hospital in Wauwatosa, where he had been treated for life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. His wife, 71-year-old Ulla Theuer died at the scene as a result of the crash.
The crash happened around 3:00 p.m. on Highway 20 near Sunnyslope Road.
FOX6 News has learned the Theuer’s had visited a car dealership in the area, for service to their vehicle. They were then attempting to cross the street to visit the McDonald’s restaurant in the area while waiting for their car to be serviced.
The driver of the striking vehicle is a 44-year-old Mount Pleasant man.
He was not injured, and is cooperating with investigators.
We’re told the intersection near Highway 20 and Sunnyslope Drive is a dangerous one because there is no clear crosswalk and traffic speeds through quickly.
Investigation is ongoing at this time with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Unit.
